Common questions
What is a co-packer?
A co-packer, also called a contract manufacturer, makes and packages products for other companies' brands. You bring the recipe and the packaging plan, and they run production in their facility.
Why does organic certification matter when choosing one?
To sell a product labeled organic, the facility that makes or handles it generally needs its own organic certification. Every listing's organic certification is checked against the USDA record, with a link to the certificate where USDA publishes one, so you can confirm its status before you reach out.
How should I narrow the list?
Start with what you make and the certifications your retailers require, then filter by state to keep freight costs down. Ask every candidate about their minimum run size early, because it is the most common deal breaker for new brands.
What should I send a co-packer first?
A one-page brief: what you make, how it is made, packaging, volumes, and timeline. Co-packers answer brands that lead with what they have instead of a long list of questions. Build yours free.
Does it cost anything?
No. Searching and requesting matches is free for brands, and basic listings are free for certified co-packers.
How is the list built?
We start from operations in the USDA Organic INTEGRITY Database flagged as co-packers, then read each company's own website to confirm they make products for other brands and to note what they run.
Not sure which one fits?
Tell us what you are making, how much, and where. We will match you with certified co-packers that can run it.
